Operating as Christian Youth Dynamics. Camp Northern Lights was founded with the generous support of the Knights of Columbus in 1972. The camps mission, as now, is to provide a wilderness summer camp experience for children aged 9-13 who otherwise would not have that opportunity.
Camp Northern Lights campers are chosen with the cooperation of local schools and community groups who identify children who would best benefit from camp for economic and/or social reasons. Parents of these children are then invited to fill out applications in the spring and from this pool the Board of Directors chooses approximately 40 campers per week to attend camp.
In addition to providing a summer camp experience for children, Camp Northern Lights also provides value experience for young people in the role of camp counsellors. High School students gain important leadership skills while meeting their volunteer requirements during a week they will never forget.
Camp Northern Lights now, as always is made possible by the hard work, dedication and generosity of the community. Their efforts and donations ensure that over 300 young people experience the joy of Camp Northern Lights every summer.
